seeing a story in everything

I’m an author from the Netherlands with a fondness for storytelling, politics, and cold, wet climates—clearly excellent life choices.

I fled the charming Dutch drizzle only to end up with four basement floods in my idyllic Swedish countryside house, and I still refuse to move back. Spite is a powerful motivator.

In 2020, I dedicated my Corona-induced lack of a social life to writing an unhinged story about Norse gods. It was so much fun that I kept going, accidentally producing full-length novels about evil children, time warps, and murdered lovers as well. When I discovered the joy of writing short stories last year, that sealed my fate: my social life wasn’t coming back anytime soon. But that’s fine. My primary goal is to entertain myself—and if these stories entertain you too,  that feels like getting away with something.

When I’m not writing, I work in the automotive industry, where I try to contribute to a more sustainable future. My professional experiences have a habit of sneaking into my fiction.
